Alexis Orchard and
Rose Ugbinada finished second and third, respectively, as the Bulldogs placed fourth during the final day of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Regionals at the AMF Pin Palace Lanes on Sunday.
Orchard averaged a 187.86 pinfall during 14 matches, including rolling three 200-plus games to earn the second spot, while Ugbinada posted a 187.14 pinfall, recording three 200-plus games. Alabama State's Jenna Knight was the individual winner with a 189.36 pinfall.
Nila Dulcio placed 13
th with a 170.64 and Michele Westmoreland was 14
th, with a 170.07.
Alabama A&M (8-6) concluded the tournament fourth, as Jackson State, the SWAC regular season champions, went 12-2 to win the East Regional. Texas Southern was second at 10-4, followed by Alabama State at 8-6. Florida A&M (7-7), Southern (7-7), Prairie View A&M (4-10) and Grambling State (0-14) rounded out the eight-team field.
The Bulldogs began the day with an 872-748 win over Florida A&M and followed that with an 896-825 victory over Southern in the second match. In the third match, the Bulldogs defeated Prairie View A&M, 835-756, before falling in the finale to Jackson State, 869-839.
Alabama A&M returns to the lanes Friday through Sunday (Feb. 13-15) as the Bulldogs will compete in the Southern Queens at the All-Star Lanes.
