Bulldogs top FAMU, TXSO to Stave Off Elimination

ARLINGTON, Texas | The Alabama A&M University bowling team defeated Florida A&M and Texas Southern to avoid elimination on Saturday as the Bulldogs continue play in the 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Bowling Tournament at the International Bowling Training and Research Center (ITRC) located in Arlington, Texas.
 
Alabama A&M, the fifth seed, defeated Florida A&M, 2-1, in the first match and eliminated Texas Southern, 2-1, in the second as the Bulldogs advance to Sunday's matchup with Jackson State in a winner-take-all opportunity to play in the championship match. The winner of the elimination match will advance to the finals against Alabama State, which defeated Jackson State, 2-1, in the semifinals.
 
In the opening match against the Rattlers, FAMU edged AAMU, 900-895, in the opener, but the Bulldogs bounced back with an 877-766 victory to force the third and deciding series. Alabama A&M cruised in the third match, defeating the Rattlers, 4-0.
 
Against Texas Southern, the Bulldogs won the opener, 964-873, but it was the Tigers that evened the match in the second, with a 920-753 victory. In the finale, the Bulldogs rolled into the matchup with Jackson State with a 4.5-1.5 win.

Tournament action continues on Sunda and will be available for free live on Bowl TV. The championship match will be stream live on SWAC TV. Fans and spectators will be permitted to attend the event and admission will be free to the general public.
