Bulldogs to Open SWAC Tournament Play on Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University women's basketball team will open Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament play on Wednesday in the quarterfinals at the Gateway Center Arena in Atlanta, Ga.
 
Alabama A&M (21-9) is the top seed in the tournament and is in the top half of the bracket. The Bulldogs will either face Texas Southern (No. 10 seed), Bethune-Cookman (No. 11 seed) or Florida A&M (No. 8 seed) in the quarterfinal matchup at 11 a.m. and the contest will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
AAMU, which won the SWAC regular season title for the first time in school history, is a combined 5-0 against those teams during the regular season.
 
Alcorn State claimed the No. 2 seed, while Alabama State earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament followed by No. 4 seed Southern. Jackson State is the fifth seed and Grambling State received the sixth seed. Arkansas-Pine Bluff enters as the No. 7 seed, while Mississippi Valley State is the No. 9 seed. Prairie View A&M rounded out the field as the No. 12 seed.
