BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Samuel Boddie carded a 2-under par 70 and
Vicente Rodriguez shot a 1-under par 71 to pace the Alabama A&M University men's golf team during Monday's opening round of the 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men's Golf Championship at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley.

Boddie. who is tied for second with Texas Southern's Yashal Shah, is just one shot back of leader Jonathan Baumann (Arkansas-Pine Bluff) after the first round. Boddie's opening round consisted of four birdies and a pair of bogeys.

Rodriguez, who is tied for fourth, is two shots back of the leader. He recorded an eagle on No. 12 and followed that with a birdie on No. 13. In addition, he had two more birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey on the front nine.

Lukas Lange is tied for 23rd after shooting a 4-over par 76, while
Kourey Patterson is tied for 27th after firing a 78.
James Fujita rounded out the team scoring, with a 79 and is tied for 31st.

Alabama A&M is eight strokes back of leader Arkansas-Pine Bluff as the Bulldogs carded a 7-over par 295. The Golden Lions were the lone school under par at 287. Florida A&M is second, shooting a 292. Alabama State sits in fourth, with a 300, followed by Texas Southern (301), Jackson State (303), Prairie View A&M (305) and Southern (310).
