AAMU’s Rodriguez Earns Bid to NCAA Athens Regional

THE HILL | Alabama A&M University junior golfer Vicente Rodriguez will conclude his season in the postseason, as he was selected as an individual for the 2026 NCAA Athens Regional, the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Selection Committee announced on Wednesday on the Golf Channel.

Rodriguez will be one of 10 individuals, along with 13 teams, to compete May 18-20 at the par-72, 7,258-yard UGA Golf Club. The top five teams and top individual on a non-advancing team in each of the six regional sites will move on to compete in the 2026 NCAA Championship, held May 29-June 3, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.

A native of El Dorado Hills, Calif., Rodriguez is the second Bulldog all-time to compete in an NCAA Regional as an individual.

"We are very proud and excited for Vicente to get a chance to compete in the postseason," Alabama A&M head coach Devins Jackson said. "He has had a great junior campaign and we are looking forward to getting to Athens and watching him compete."

Rodriguez, who was selected to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Second Team, was the individual medalist at the 2026 conference tournament championship. At the tournament, Rodriguez entered the final round third overall before shooting a 2-under par 69 and held off a late charge by Texas Southern's Yashal Shah, to win the crown.
