Alabama A&M Women's Basketball Invited to Inaugural PowHER Player Classic

THE HILL | Alabama A&M women's basketball will take part in the inaugural PowHER Player Classic, an HBCU-focused women's basketball event hosted in partnership with South Carolina women's basketball and scheduled for November 2026 in Columbia, South Carolina. The event will celebrate HBCU women's basketball while creating Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) opportunities for participating student-athletes.

The Bulldogs are among the programs selected to participate in the first-of-its-kind event, which combines elite competition, culture and professional development through an innovative NIL marketplace.

The PowHER Player Classic is spearheaded by Rae Rose Media and supported by South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley, whose commitment to increasing the visibility of HBCU women's basketball has been evident through her scheduling philosophy and continued advocacy for HBCU athletics. In addition to high-level competition, the event is expected to feature NIL activations that connect student-athletes with brands, fans and industry leaders.

"Any chance you get to line up against the best, you take it. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Coach Staley and what she's built at South Carolina, but we're coming to compete. These are the moments our young women deserve, and these are the games that continue to put Alabama A&M on a national platform."

  • Coach Dawn Brown

More information regarding Alabama A&M's participation in the PowHER Player Classic, including game dates, opponents and ticket information, will be announced as it becomes available.
