THE HILL | Alabama A&M football defensive back Jeremiah Hudson-Davis and women's cross country runner Laura Avila have been named the Alabama A&M Athletics Dawgs of the Week following their standout performances.

Hudson-Davis delivered a dominant defensive performance in the Bulldogs' 30-3 victory over Tennessee State in the Legacy Series. The redshirt senior recorded a team-high 12 tackles and intercepted a pass, helping Alabama A&M hold the Tigers to 251 yards of total offense and just three points.

The Fairfield, Alabama, native's interception ended a Tennessee State scoring threat during the first quarter. Hudson-Davis returned the takeaway nine yards, giving the Bulldogs possession at their own 24-yard line. His performance also earned him Southwestern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Avila captured the individual title at the Legacy Series Invite on Friday at John Hunt Park. The senior completed the 5K course in a season-best time of 18:51.4, finishing first overall and leading Alabama A&M to the team championship.

Behind Avila's first-place performance, the Bulldogs claimed each of the top four individual spots and finished with 22 points—27 points ahead of runner-up Jacksonville State. Avila was also named the SWAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for her performance.

The Dawgs of the Week are selected weekly through a vote by the Alabama A&M Athletics staff.
