Alabama A&M Tailgating Procedures

The goals and objectives of the Alabama A&M University Tailgating Procedures are to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment that will enhance and promote integrity, civility, ethical conduct and good sportsmanship amongst fans, students, and players attending the game(s). The following procedures concerning tailgating, fan conduct, and all areas in/around Louis Crews Stadium, are designed to help guide fans and ensure a family friendly, safe and enjoyable game experience for all.

AAMU Department of Athletics does not condone behavior or actions that are contrary to the policies of Alabama A&M University or laws of the State of Alabama. Failure to adhere to the procedures listed below (or other applicable state laws and city ordinances) may result in removal from the tailgate area, immediate termination of tailgating privileges for a game or the remainder of the season, and/or criminal prosecution. NOTE: Renewal of tailgating privileges for the following year is at the discretion of the AAMU Department of Athletics.

1. The George E. Jones Tailgate Plaza will open for tailgaters on Thursdays before home football games during the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Fridays before home football games during the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and on game day at 6:00 a.m. ALL vehicles entering the tailgate area must enter three (3) hours before game time. RV’s entering the tailgate area on game day must enter by 9:00 a.m.

2. Only vehicles with authorized tailgate access permits will be allowed to enter the tailgate area. Only two (2) tailgate access permits per space are covered in the tailgate fee. Permit must be displayed at all times or vehicle is subject to removal at the expense of the owner.

3. Tailgating must be confined to the space purchased. All tents, RVs and vehicles must fit within allotted space.

4. Traffic aisles and adjacent parking spaces cannot be blocked at any time. Vehicles that are illegally parked are subject to removal at the expense of the owner.

5. All vehicles must display the tailgate access permit on the rear view mirror at all times.

6. All tailgate vehicles must enter from Industrial Drive directly into the tailgate lot three (3) hours before game time. RV’s must enter tailgate lot by 9:00 a.m. on game day.

7. All tailgaters must evacuate the premises including personal property no later than
12:00 p.m. the day after the game (Sunday). Alabama A&M University is not responsible for theft, lost, or damage to personal property and items left in/around the tailgate area.

8. The selling or solicitation of any item by anyone other than University authorized personnel in and around Louis Crews Stadium, including the parking lots, is prohibited. All items belonging to violators will be confiscated.

9. Signage and banners can only be erected on game day; they must be removed no later than 12:00 p.m. the day after the game (Sunday).

10. No tent structure larger than 20x20 is allowed without a permit from the Huntsville Bureau of Fire Prevention.

11. Tents and awnings cannot block adjacent tailgate spaces or impede traffic aisles.

12. All tents must be properly anchored with anchor weights (cinder blocks or sand bags). The use of stakes is prohibited. Tents must be properly anchored and secured.

13. For pedestrian safety, all vehicles, grills, etc. must be in place three (3) hours before game time. No vehicles will be allowed to enter the tailgate area (even with a purchased permit) once the tailgate area is closed to vehicle traffic.

14. Vehicles must remain in tailgate area three (3) hours after the game or until Public Safety has determined pedestrian and other vehicle traffic has declined.

15. All-terrain vehicles are prohibited in the tailgate area. However, golf carts with AAMU permits are allowed. Permits are issued for each home game at Louis Crews Stadium at the
visitor’s side ticket booth. The permit must be displayed on the golf cart at all times.

16. Use and consumption of alcohol in George E. Jones Tailgate Plaza is governed by AAMU Drug & Alcohol Abuse Prevention Policy:

17. As a lessee of a tailgate spot, you can allow the servicing of alcohol provided all servicing complies with University policy, all state and local laws and regulations. AAMU does not
assume any responsibility for ensuring that you follow applicable laws and regulations regarding the use and consumption of alcohol.

18. The lessee is responsible for laws concerning possession, and consumption of alcohol by minors and all open container laws.

19. All beverages must be in plastic or aluminum containers. Public display of cans, bottles, or other alcoholic containers is prohibited. Glass containers and kegs are prohibited.

20. For safety reasons, a generator exhaust riser is required for the use of gas/diesel powered generators. Fires and hot coals should not be left unattended. Tents, grills, and umbrellas
should not be left in/around tailgate area after the game.

21. Proper disposal of grill coals and other items is required. Tailgaters are responsible for cleaning up their area prior to leaving the tailgate area.
22. All trash must be bagged and placed in trash receptacles provided by the University.

23. All tailgaters must conduct themselves in a manner which ensures the safety and enjoyment of others. Abusive and/or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and is cause for immediate removal from the tailgating area.

24. Tailgating in non-designated areas of the University is prohibited.

25. All children under the age of 15 must be supervised by an adult.

26. All pets must be kept on a leash and with owner at all times.

27. Tailgaters are encouraged to support the Bulldogs by wearing team colors and team paraphernalia.
