Dedrick Bartie began his Strength & Conditioning career as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning for Matthew Bruce, a former USA Olympic Weightlifter under legendary coach Gayle Hatch, at Bruce Barbell in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There he worked with athletes on the high school, collegiate and professional levels in the sports of Football, Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Tennis, Track, Wrestling, and Olympic Weightlifting. He spent 14 months working for Matthew Bruce at Bruce Barbell before accepting an internship with Head Strength Coach Tommy Moffit and Louisiana State University Athletics. At LSU he worked with the #16 ranked football and the #1 ranked baseball team entering into the College World Series along with the volleyball and soccer teams.
    
After completing an 8-month internship with LSU Athletics he accepted a graduate assistantship position with Alabama A&M University Athletics. Where he served as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Softball and Women’s Basketball while assisting with the Football team. He also was the Internship Coordinator for the Strength & Conditioning Staff at Alabama A&M University. After completing the Graduate Assistantship with Alabama A&M University, he went on to work at multiple private sports performance facilities in the Houston, Texas area including working at one sports performance facility as the Director of Sports Performance.

Coach Bartie returns to The Hill as the Assistant Strength & Coach for Football. He is the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Women’s Basketball & Softball. He will serve as the Internship Coordinator for the Strength & Conditioning Program.  
Bartie is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and Certified Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). He has a Level 1 Sports Performance Coach Certification from USA Weightlifting (USAW). He is CPR AED & First Aid Certified.  

Bartie earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with Minors in Health Science, Psychology, and Leadership Development from Louisiana State University in 2015. He earned his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Applied Sports Science from Alabama A&M University in 2016.
