Entering his first season at Alabama A&M, Robinson coached two years at Mississippi Valley State University as Associate Head Coach, to where they won 60 games in two years. Under his leadership at Valley, he guided his team to winning the conference regular season title both years, and won the SWAC Championship title in 2012.
While at Mississippi Valley State, Robinson coached third base, hitting and infield. Before coming on board in his stint with the Delta Deviletts, Coach Robinson served as Associate Head Coach at Butte College in Chico, California.
As a head coach, Robinson compiled a 112-69 record in four years as head coach at York College, McCook Community College, and Rainy River Community College from 2004 to 2009. Over that period his team batting average was over .400.
He took over programs at York who won 8 games the previous year and led the to 27wins. McCook who won just ten games over the previous five year to a 30 win season, most in school history. Coach Rainy River to a 4th place national finish in 2004.
A graduate of Northern State University(SD) Ty lettered as a pitcher in baseball from 2001-03 earned his BS in Physical Education from Northern State University in 2003.
