As Athletic Operations Manager, Williams is the primary contact for Game Management at all home athletic contests and special events. Williams will also serve as the supervisor of the Athletic Business Office which includes tickets, vending, tailgating, etc.  Williams is also responsible for all facilities within the Athletic Department including daily maintenance, deferred maintenance, renovations and capital projects. During his tenure, there have been many improvements to the Athletic facilities. Some of the upgrades are as follow: 
  • Removal of the barbwire and replacing some of the fencing structure to Louis Crews Stadium
  • Replacing the outfield fence to the Bulldog Baseball Field
  • Painting of the outfield fence to the Bulldog Baseball Field
  • Painting of the brick columns to the Bulldog Softball and Baseball Complex
  • Upgrade to the dugouts of Lady Bulldog Softball Field
  • Replacing the fencing to the Bulldog Soccer Field
 
Since coming to Alabama A&M University, Williams was selected by Director of Athletics Bryan Hicks and President Dr. Andrew Hugine Jr. as a participant in the 2018 Fearless Leadership Development Program. The program recognizes future leaders here at Alabama A&M University. Furthermore, Williams was selected to participate of the Sibson Consulting Committee to help align job descriptions, salaries, etc. with universities similar to Alabama A&M and it the southern region.
 
Prior to coming to Alabama A&M University Williams was a consultant for Alabama A&M Athletics where he was responsible for game day management for football. Also, Williams was a seven year Math Teacher at Austin High School in Decatur, Alabama. Also, Dexter is the Co-Founder of Vigilance Sports, a youth development organization that helps shapes the lives of young men and women spiritual, academic, and athletically. Through Vigilance Sports, over 100 student athletes received scholarships to various colleges and universities. Furthermore, Williams was a very successful math teacher in the Madison City, Madison County, and Huntsville School systems. Williams also was an assistant basketball coach, and academic advisor at Birmingham Southern, when it was division one, and Tennessee Tech University. At the two schools Williams was instrumental in the development of all athletes and many went on to have successful professional basketball careers.
 
Williams is a native of Huntsville, AL. and a graduate of Johnson High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Tuskegee University and his Master’s degree in Secondary Math Education. Dexter is the son of Patricia Williams and the late Charles Williams.
