Kiara Snel

Kiara Snel enters her first season as Assistant Coach of the Women's Soccer program, bringing a strong background as both a player and coach at the collegiate and international levels. She is passionate about developing student-athletes holistically, on the field, in the classroom, and in life, while helping build a culture of excellence within the program.

Snel began her coaching career at New College of Florida, where she contributed to the growth of the women’s soccer program in its inaugural season in the NAIA Sun Conference. In her role, she worked closely with players in technical development, fitness preparation, and match analysis, while also gaining valuable experience in recruiting and program operations. Her time at New College of Florida allowed her to understand the unique challenges of building a program from the ground up, shaping her into a versatile and detail-oriented coach.

Additionally to being an assitant coach for New College of Florida’s first-team, she served as the head coach for the reserve squad. As the reserve team head coach she gained valuable experience running practices that she designed, prepapring players for the jump to the first team, and reintroducing players that missed game and practice time due to injury or sickness. She developed many players, allowing them to make the jump to the first team and earn valuable spots to better the team overall.

She later served as an assistant coach at Spartanburg Methodist College, where she worked within an established program competing at the NJCAA level. At SMC she aided in the transition from NJCAA to the NAIA AAC Conference. Snel was heavily involved in daily training sessions, match preparation, and player development, with an emphasis on fostering discipline and competitiveness. She also contributed to the administrative side of the program, gaining experience in travel coordination, compliance, and academic support for student-athletes.

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Snel represented the Curaçao Women’s National Team at the senior level as a player. Competing on the international stage provided her with a deep understanding of the game’s demands at a high level and reinforced her commitment to preparing players to compete with intensity and resilience. Her time with the national team continues to influence her coaching philosophy, particularly in teaching athletes the importance of discipline, adaptability, and teamwork.

Snel is known for her energy, professionalism, and relational coaching style. She views soccer not only as a sport but also as a platform to build character, leadership, and life skills. Her ultimate goal is to mentor athletes in a way that prepares them for success both on the field and in their future endeavors.
