Nakeyta Clair begins her first season as an assistant coach on the volleyball staff at Alabama A&M University.

Clair previously worked with Alabama A&M head coach Dr. Brandon Reeves during his time at Chicago State from 2019-2023. During her time at Chicago State, Clair served in many capacities, including recruiting, team transportation, supervising practices and coordinating and scheduling visits for recruits.

Prior to Chicago State, Clair spent nearly two years at her alma mater, Ole Miss.

Clair, a four-year starter for the Rebels from 2012-15, became the second All-American in program history and was a two-time All-SEC selection as well as a SEC All-Freshman honoree. She was also a member of the USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team.

She went on to play professionally in Halmstad, Sweden before returning to begin coaching club squads and camps stateside.

The Illinois native and former middle blocker exited Ole Miss as the leader in both single-season and career total blocks (130, 435), block solos (34, 102), and block assists (105, 333)- records she still holds today. She also ranks third all-time with 1,177 kills and holds the school record for career hitting percentage (.344).

Clair played her final two seasons under current head coach Steven McRoberts’ tutelage, her first earning her All-America honors and then AVCA All-Region honors during her final campaign. In her junior season (the first under McRoberts), she set a then-program record with 366 kills and became the second player in Ole Miss history to tally over 300 career blocks in the rally scoring era.

She capped her career with the school record in total blocks at 435 during her senior season. During her two years with McRoberts, she helped lead the Rebels to consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time in nearly three decades, the best start in school history and at the time, the most home wins with a 13-5 record in 2015. (The Rebels have since broke that with a 17-6 home ledger in 2017.)

Clair received her Bachelor of Science Degree of Social Work, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of Mississippi in 2016 and earned a Master of Science in Criminal Justice in December of 2021 from Chicago State.
