The Alabama A&M volleyball team opened up the 2009 season at the University of Auburn Tournament in Auburn, Ala. Rose Corneille and Clarissa Moore were all-tournament selections as the Bulldogs walked away with just a set win against UAB on Fri. Aug 28.

Clarissa Moore led the A&M attack, finishing 4-of-6 for a .500 hitting percantage over two sets. The Bulldogs had trouble generating offense as the team was held to a negative hitting percentage for the match, however. Karensa Beckford and Moore recorded an ace each for A&M as defensive specialist Audrey Harris had five digs to lead the defensive effort.

The Bulldogs and the Blazers battled back and forth in a tightly played match, but UAB ultimately walked away with the win in four sets of action. Madinah Abdullah and Moore recorded 12 kills for A&M. Natalie Rodriguez assisted on 32 of the Bulldog's 44 team kills and had a team-high 12 digs.

Beckford and Moore recorded six kills as the Bulldogs played the Tigers more closely in the second meeting between the two teams. A&M had 23 total kills and Lydia Adeosun assisted on 3-of-4 team Bulldog blocks.
A&M will travel to Tuscaloosa to play the Univ. of Alabama on Sept. 1, before heading to Kennesaw, Ga. for Kennesaw State's Great Eight Volleyball Challenge labor day weekend.
