Box Score / Alabama A&M hung tough with Alabama on the Crimson Tide's home-opening volleyball match Tuesday night, but in the end the Tide defeated the Bulldogs 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-19). Karensa Beckford and Lydia Adeosun each had five kills to lead A&M. Natalie Rodriguez dished out 20 assists. Rodriguez also had a team-high eight digs on the defensive end.
Alabama A&M stormed to a 5-1 lead in the first set and held the lead for much of the game before Alabama rallied for the 25-17 win.
Set saw each team battle back-and-forth throughout the first half of the game, but the Crimson Tide scored seven straight points to turn a 13-12 lead into a 20-12 advantage and closed with a 25-15 victory.
After a brief lead by the Bulldogs in set three, the Tide maintained a 3-4 point lead throughout the game and closed out the match 25-19.
The loss leaves Alabama A&M 0-4 on the season after a tough in-state schedule that included Auburn, UAB, and Alabama. The Bulldogs are in action again this weekend at the Georgia State Great Eight Volleyball Challenge in Kennesaw, Ga.
