Rose Corneille was named the the T.I.S. College Bookstore IU Invitational all-tournament team as the Bulldogs got a win against North Carolina A&T in the opening round. A&M will begin its run for another SWAC title when it hosts Alcorn State on Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.

Karensa Beckford led the A&M effort by going 7-for-13 for a .385 hitting percentage. Madinah Abdullah added six kills. Natalie Rodriguez assisted on 31-of-37 total Bulldog Kills. Rodriguez also went 6-for-8 at the net to finish with a 75 percent hitting average. As a team, A&M finished with a .309 hitting clip. Corneille had 12 digs in the match to lead the A&M defense.

The Bulldogs struggled to get things going offensively as the team registered just 25 kills out of 92 attempts. Clarissa Moore had nine kills. Corneille finished with 12 digs.

The Broncos and the Bulldogs played a tightly close match, as A&M was on the brink of a sweep until Western Michigan pushed it to five sets. Abdullah and Moore had 13 and 10 kills, respectively. Corneille had 27 digs for the defense.

A&M will open up SWAC play on Sept. 29 when it hosts Alcorn State at T.M. Elmore Gym at 7 p.m.
