Women’s Soccer lose tough match

Box Score

MONTGOMERY- The Alabama A&M women’s soccer team fell 2-0 in Montgomery, AL on Thursday, in their opening SWAC Eastern Divisional contest against in-state rival the Lady Hornets of Alabama State University.

A&M dominated play in the first half however they still found themselves down two goals at half’s end.

The Maroon and White out-shout the Lady Hornets eight to three in the first 45 minutes of action, but it was ASU finding the back of net twice. Both State goals came during dead ball scenarios.

Goal one was scored after AAMU gave up a free kick 30 yards away from the goal while the second came off an Alabama State corner kick.

The second half went similar to the first for A&M. After continuing to dominate play the Lady Bulldogs were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Alabama A&M, after dictating play and having the greater part of possession, could not come up with a goal of their own.

The Frank Davis led squad would eventually give way to their 11th straight loss of the year and 13th straight dating back to the 2011 season.

The Lady Bulldogs will return to action on Friday, October 12th when they host Grambling State University at 3:00 p.m. in the “Kick Cancer” Breast Cancer Awareness game.
