Normal- The Alabama A&M women’s soccer team kicks off the 2012 season with a two game road trip in the state of Georgia. There they will face both South Carolina State University and Kennesaw State University.
First up in the “Peach State” will be a battle of Bulldogs, as our A&M Lady Bulldogs face the Lady Bulldogs of South Carolina State University Friday, Aug. 17, at 1 p.m. eastern standard time. In game two, A&M will head to Kennesaw, Georgia to play the Lady Owls at KSU stadium, which also housed the now defunct Atlanta Beat of the Women’s Professional Soccer league (WPS). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 19.
The Maroon and White are coming off a 1-14-1 campaign in 2011, after going 1-6-1 and finishing in last place in the Eastern Division of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). A&M should be improved in 2012 as they are returning 15 players from last season lead by senior forward Nycole Henderson of Westerville, OH. The Maroon & White will lean on Henderson, preseason second team honoree; as well as the experience from its returning players to foster a successful season this fall.
