Women’s Soccer set for two game weekend

NORMAL -- The Lady Bulldogs soccer team are gearing up for two upcoming contests, a road trip to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to take on Middle Tennessee State and their home opener on Sunday, Aug. 26th when they host Jacksonville State.

Friday, Aug. 24th the Maroon and White head to Tennessee to take on the Lady Blue Raiders. Last season the Blue Raiders defeated A&M 5-0, scoring four goals in the first half. The Maroon and White were held scoreless by the MTSU defense which did not allow their goalkeeper to face one shot.

Alabama A&M’s goalkeeper, Linda Aboagye, faced 20 shots and recorded five saves in the contest. AAMU will try to improve upon last season’s meeting in the upcoming contest set for a 6 p.m. kickoff.

Also this weekend, Alabama A&M will begin their home campaign as they welcome the Jacksonville State Gamecocks to Lady Bulldog Field on Sunday, at 2 p.m.

The two teams last met in 2008 when the Frank Davies led squad defeated the Gamecocks 4-2 after falling behind in the first half 1-2. A well-played second half in which A&M secured three goals and seven saves propelled them to victory.

Sunday’s home opener is free and open to the public.  Live Stats will be available all season long for all women’s soccer home games.
