Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Louisiana swept Alabama A&M volleyball in each set in the opening match of the Tiger Invitational at Elma Roane Fieldhouse on the University of Memphis campus.

It was the first meeting between the two schools since Oct. 8, 1988 when then-USL swept AAMU in the Southern University tournament in Baton Rouge, La.

The stats were relatively even, but the Cajuns (6-6) posted a higher hitting percentage each set to put away the Bulldogs (1-12). ULL held a hitting percentage advantage of .171 -.073 in the first set, .178 -.089 in the second set and hit .206 while holding AAMU to a zero percentage in the closing frame.

Clairissa Moore led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 kills on just 35 attempts while Leslie Ekpe ended the game with six kills.

AAMU only lead in the entire match was a result of the Bulldogs scoring on the first rally of a set.

In the second contest of the day A&M fell 3-1 to the University of Illinois at Chicago (25-17, 16-25, 25-17, 25-16). UIC collected consecutive 25-17 victories in the first and third sets, while clinching the match in a 25-16 outcome in the fourth set to secure the victory.

The Lady Bulldogs won the second set due to Moore’s season high 17 kills off of 48 attempts another season high for the all-conference first-teamer.  This is the ninth occasion Moore has posted double digit kills and the third time this season she has recorded a double double with 11 digs.

A&M will continue action on Saturday afternoon in the Tiger Invitational at 4 p.m., facing tournament host Memphis University.
