A&M takes Round One Over Alabama State

NORMAL - The Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs captured their second consecutive victory on Thursday night, when they sent arch rival Alabama State Lady Hornets home in four sets (25-22, 25-13, 23-25, 25-17).

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs now post a 3-15 overall record and 2-0 in conference play on the year, while the Lady Hornets drops to 1-17 and 1-1 in the SWAC.

Senior standout Clairissa Moore who was last week's SWAC Player of the Week, led AAMU with 14 kills. Alongside her teammate junior transfer Bianca Richardson posted 14 kills as well. Junior Mariah Brown was next on A&M’s kill list with 11, followed by freshman Kyanna Sales.

The third set proved to be the most exciting. The Lady Bulldogs trailed by as much as six points before knotting the score at 19-all. The teams again began trading points as they tied the score at 21 all before ASU took the 25^th match point on a kill from Chelsey Scott taking game three from the Maroon and White.

Alabama State was led by Scott and Khryssnee Madison who each tallied 18 and 16 kills respectively.

A&M will host Mississippi Valley State University on Monday, October 1^st, at 7 p.m. in SWAC action, in the T.M Elmore Gymnasium.
