Lady Bulldogs Fall to Jackson State, 2-1

Box Score Normal- The Lady Bulldogs lost a tough match to the Lady Tigers of Jackson State today after taking a first half lead.

The Maroon & White came out with high energy, and with a great will to win. They dominated the game early, having majority of the possession. The Lady Bulldogs broke a nil-nil tie game after the 40^th-minutes on a goal by Freshman Ester Martinez of Houston Texas.

The A&M Texan scored her first goal of her colligate career and gave the Lady Bulldogs a one-nil lead that they took into the half time break. The first half saw JSU out shoot A&M 7-6, yet they trailed. Marissa Oehler in the Lady Bulldog net recorded four saves in the 45-minute period.

Coming out in the second half, both teams were ready to take control of the game, A&M sought to maintain their lead while JSU looked to tie the game. The Lady Tigers got control of the possession early and made it count when they were in the attacking third.

The Lady Tigers tied the game in the 55^th-minute after Oehler made three consecutive saves prior to the ball being knocked pass her and into the back of the net. The next 25-minutes were an absolute fight, we both teams trying to score the go-ahead goal. JSU got the upper hand after a penalty was called with just nine and a half minutes to play.

The Lady Tigers scored what would be the winning goal when substitute Raquel Araujo slipped a hard straight shot into the back left corner. Despite a valiant effort, the Maroon & White fell 2-1 on the day.

They will return to action this Sunday when they host the Jaguars of Southern University. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at Lady Bulldog Field.
