Volleyball Dig’s Pink versus the Hornets

NORMAL - The Alabama A&M volleyball team will hold their annual Dig Pink event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month Friday, October 18, in the T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.

The Lady Bulldogs will host in-state conference rival Alabama State in a battle for first place in the SWAC's Eastern Division.

A&M (4-15, 3-0 SWAC) is coming off a 3-2 loss at South Carolina State University. Sophomore Savannah Blackistone led the Maroon & White with 11 kills, five digs and five service aces in the defeat. Leslie Ekpe and Ashley Forman added 10 kills and 26 assists respectively on the evening.

Dig Pink is a nationwide campaign in the volleyball world that raises money for breast cancer. This game is great way for head coach Nedra Brown and her Lady Bulldog squad  to raise awareness and celebrate survivors of breast cancer.

Friday is an important game for multiple reasons, the Maroon& White are not only playing for a first place position, but coach Brown is going after her 100th career win "The Hill".  Brown currently stands at 99-105 overall as the leader of Lady Bulldog volleyball team.

A&M volleyball is asking everyone to come out and support in pink attire while the team Volley's for the Cure on the court verses the Hornets.

This event is free and open to the public; it will include games, contest, and prizes for all in attendance. Immediately following the match will be the 2013-14 Bulldogs basketball edition of midnight madness, AAMU Hoops Hysteria.

Friday's action versus the Hornets will begin at 7:00 p.m. and can be followed via live stats.
