Lady Bulldogs soccer tie Alcorn, 2-2

Box Score Normal-The Lady Bulldogs soccer team ends the weekend with a 2-2 tie at Alcorn State.

In their second SWAC competition of the season and weekend, the Maroon & White take a second 2-2 tie. The action at Spinks-Casem Stadium was immediate and exciting.

Opening the scoring in the third minute of play was A&M freshman Estelle Esperance. Junior Ana Huertas assisted Esperance who scored her second goal of the weekend and fourth of the season to give A&M the lead.

Deborah Quaye quickly responded for the Lady Braves, putting them on the board about three minutes later, tying the game at one. For the next 20-minutes, action was frequent with both teams getting off shots; however, neither team was able to find the back of the net.

Quaye put Alcorn ahead after scoring her second goal in the 27th minute. Again after back and forth action, the score remained unchanged and the Maroon & White took a 2-1 deficit into the break.

The second half began with the Lady Bulldogs fighting to salvage points from a competition they once led. A determined A&M side found a way to change the tide of the game in the 59th minute, just 14 minutes into the second half. Esperance leveled the playing field with her second goal of the game.

Esperance's goal proved to be of the utmost importance as it proved to be the goal that earned A&M's share of the points.  The score remained unchanged after the Esperance goal and after the two overtime periods.
The Maroon & White earned their second point of the season and improved to 0-11-2 on the season and 0-0-2 in conference play.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action, Friday, October 11 when the host Jackson State on The Hill, kicking off at 3:00 p.m.
