Bulldogs fall for the first time in December

Box Score

ATHENS – Ohio University was too much for the A&M men's basketball team as they claimed a 72-47 victory Saturday afternoon.

Jeremy Crutcher and Demarquelle Tabb led the team with 11 points each but foul trouble kept Tabb on the bench most of the game. Freshman Xavier Williams pulled in six rebounds while Jose Long grabbed five and scored four points even though he fell into foul trouble early in the second half.

The contest started off close with the Bobcats taking the only lead of the game that was never relinquished.

Coming off a seven day break did not fare well for AAMU as they committed multiple turnovers that led to points for the Bobcats. Nineteen total giveaways was a season high for A&M.

"When you turn the ball over as many times as we did you cannot win especially on the road," said head coach Willie Hayes.  "We missed opportunities to go inside, we weren't making the easy baskets, we made lazy passes and we just did not execute."

"Ohio plays hard and sets screens that will make you remember them. They play hard due to the conference they are in," Hayes commented.

Fifteen different players saw action in Athens during the contest due to the foul trouble and coach's decision.

"I saw our upperclassmen were not giving us what we needed so I decided to give the younger guys some action against a very good Mid-American Conference opponent," Hayes quoted. "We have some young guys who are good and just need some exposure so they can step in and give us a lift or the same intensity we need in a game."

The Bobcats outscored the Bulldogs 38-6 in points in the paint, 24-12 in points off turnovers, 11-4 in second chance opportunities, 14-0 in fast break situations and 40-26 in bench scorers.
Maurice Ndor, Javarez Willis and T.J. Hall all scored 12 points to lead Ohio.

Up next A&M will have another seven days until they travel to Springfield, Missouri to take on Missouri State University on Saturday, December 21st.
