Volleyball Falls twice in final day of tournament

NORMAL - The A&M women's volleyball team maintains their view for its first win of the 2013 season after falling in three straight matches in the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational hosted by Missouri State.

The Lady Bulldogs opened day two with the Bears of Missouri State losing in three games 25-7, 25-11, and 25-15, on Saturday afternoon.

A&M amassed 14 total kills on 82 attempts, with seven in the second game as the only single figure in the entire set.

Savanna Blackistone recorded a team high five kills while Senior, Ashley Forman, tallied 12 dimes and five digs.

The second match of the day pitted the Maroon & White versus the Middle Tennessee State. Unfortunately AAMU was defeated by a score of 26-10, 25-17, and 25-15.

Blackistone once again led the Nedra Brown squad with eight kills and three digs. Twenty-six was the magic number on the day for Forman as she collected her total in assists.

Leading the way defensively for the Lady Bulldogs was sophomore Rebecca Cortez tallying ten digs.

Up next A&M will travel to Nashville, Tenn. on Tuesday, September 17 to face the Tigers of Tennessee State. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
