HUNTSVILLE -- Freshman
Lauren Crosby posted her first career shutout and
Estelle Esperance had two goals as Alabama A&M blanked Alcorn State 5-0 Friday at Lady Bulldogs Field.
The Lady Bulldogs dominated both ends of the field, limiting the Lady Braves to five shots while firing 19 shots, including 14 on goal.
Crosby came out several times to gather the ball not giving Alcorn a scoring opportunity. She was also aided by a couple of saves from teammates
Cindy Alatorre and
Camille Nurse to preserve the shutout.
Esperance's first goal came on a breakaway, set up by a through pass from
Fatmata Mansaray at the 9:52 mark.
She made it 2-0 almost 20 minutes later with an assist from
Andrea Chacon.
Lauren Saunders scored her first goal of the year on a header from a corner kick by
Caroline Dyrdek for a 3-0 lead at 48:52.
Sarah Bangura had her first goal just about 5 minutes later to increase the lead to 4-0.
Dyrdek wrapped up the scoring with her first goal on a shot from about 18 yards out.
The Lady Bulldogs wrap up their home season Sunday with Senior Day. Kickoff is 1 p.m. with Mississippi Valley visiting Lady Bulldogs Field.
