Trio of Bulldogs in Double Figures as A&M Falls to Murray State

MURRAY, KY --- The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team had three players in double figures; however, the Bulldogs ended up falling to host Murray State, 91-54, Saturday night.

Freshman guard De'Ederick Petty paced the Bulldogs with 14 points while senior Rakiya Battle added 12 points and three assists. Senior Quinterian McConico scored 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds while freshman Evan Wiley grabbed five rebounds and four points.

Freshman Ariston Johnson contributed six points while classmates Tracey Burnett and Eugene Jones Jr. each added four points and two rebounds.
 
A free throw by McConico and three pointer by Battle put the Bulldogs up 4-0 to begin the game. The two teams were tied at 10-10 when the Racers went on a 13-5 run for a 23-15 lead with 11:31 left in the first half. The Bulldogs went into intermission trailing 47-27.

The Bulldogs shot 41.3 percent from the field and Murray State hit 57.1 percent of their shots, including 11 of 24 (45.8 percent) from the three-point range.

A&M is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 29 when they travel to Birmingham to take on the University of Alabama at Birmingham at 7 p.m.
