McConico hits 15 but Bulldogs fall at UAB

BIRMINGHAM -- Quinterian McConico had a game-high 15 points and the Bulldogs hung tight in the first half Tuesday, but UAB pulled away en route to a 75-45 win.

It was a season high output for the senior center was 7--for-10 from the field. McConico also pulled down six rebounds.

Rakiya Battle had a season- and game-high seven assists for the Bulldogs.

A&M and the Blazers were in a tight contest, going basket for basket in the first 10 minutes of the game. Evan Wiley hit a three-pointer for a 9-4 A&M lead about four minutes into the game.

Later, De'Ederick Petty's three-pointer tied the game at 12-12 with 11:57 left in the half.

But the Blazers slowly pulled away and built a 32-19 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs return to action Saturday when Tennessee Tech visits Elmore Gym for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
