Women's Basketball Loses 63-54 at Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. --- The Alabama A&M women's basketball team was defeated 63-54 at the University of Evansville on Wednesday night in a non-conference game.

Freshman guard Jameica Cobb finished the game with 15 points. She was 1-of-2 from behind the arc connecting one three-pointer in the first half.

Senior Ebony Johnson scored 12 points and posted 10 rebounds, reaching double figures for the first time this season. Freshman Lauren McKee contributed 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs and added three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

As a team, the Lady Bulldogs (2-7) shot 22-of-52 (42.3%) from the field. The Purple Aces (5-6) shot 22-of-59 (37.3%) from the field.

Evansville outscored the Lady Bulldogs in the first half, 33-24. Both teams were tied in scoring in the second half. The Purple Aces dominated the third quarter scoring, 24-7, and the Lady Bulldogs responded by outscoring Evansville in the fourth, 23-6.

Evansville had the edge in second-chance points, 10-7.

A&M will return home on Monday, January 2, when the Lady Bulldogs and the Bulldogs welcome Jackson State to T.M. Elmore Gym for Southwestern Athletic Conference play. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
