Spring football practice underway

HUNTSVILLE -- You can't say the Bulldogs were up bright and early Monday to begin spring football drills.

Early, yes.

Bright? Hardly

Under the veil of pre-dawn darkness, the A&M players and coaches ran onto the turf at Louis Crews Stadium to being preparations for the 2016 football season.

Monday was the first of 15 practices that will culminate with the Maroon & White Spring Game on April 2 at 10:30 a.m.

Monday's and Tuesday's practices are helmets only and the players will don full pads Thursday - but no tackling.

On Friday, the annual "Friday Night Under the Lights" will be at 6 p.m. and Head Coach James Spady and his staff are inviting all alums to attend. Registration is 5 p.m.

The first scrimmage is Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and there is a special invitation for local high school coaches.

The Bulldogs will be off March 20-27 for Spring Break and return to full pads/no tackling March 28. There will be a full pads practice on April 1 preceding the April 2 spring game.

All practices will be held at Louis Crews Stadium and are open to the public.
