Bulldogs' Burchell fans 13 in loss to MVSU

HUNTSVILLE -- Josh Burchell struck out a career-high 13 batters Saturday but the Bulldogs lost to Mississippi Valley State 2-1.

It was the first game of a home-and-away doubleheader. The Bulldogs lost the second game 11-10 in 12 innings.
Shortstop J.T. O'Reel put the Bulldogs up 1-0 in the first inning when he took the first pitch he saw over the left-field fence for a leadoff home run.

But that was all A&M would score, despite leaving eight runners on base.

Meanwhile, Burchell pitched his third complete game of the season, scattering four hits and walking just four MVSU hitters in his final start at Bulldogs Field.

Burchell leads the league in innings pitched with 65 1/3 and is second in strikeouts with 65.
