Bulldogs honor seven players on Senior Day

HUNTSVILLE -- The Bulldogs honored a group of seven student-athletes Saturday between games of a home-and-awy doubleheader with Mississippi Valley State.

Boston Martinez-Neal, Ty Russell, Jordan Benford, Allen Belue, Caleb Roberts, Dylan Payne and Josh Burchell were recognized in a special ceremony by Director of Athletics Bryan Hicks and Head Coach Mitch Hill.

They were accompanied on the field by family members and friends and received a baseball letterman's jacket.

However, the spirit was dampened as they lost both games by one run.

MVSU one the opener 2-1 and rallied for an 11-10 win in 12 innings in the second game.

Tanner Ivey drove in five runs with a single and a home run and Darren White had his first career home run in the 11-10 loss.

The two teams will close out the series Sunday at 1 p.m. at Buldogs Field in the final home game of the year.
