PULASKI, TENN. ---Ariel Smith hit her first home run of the season Monday evening in the doubleheader at Martin Methodist, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Bulldogs fell 7-4 in the first game and 6-2 in the second game.
In first game, AAMU scored in the first inning on a run from Viridiana Ramos after Tiana Sanders singled to right field. After struggling to get on base in the next four innings, A&M responded with three runs in the sixth.Â
 At the top of the sixth, Sanders singled through the hole at shortstop to advance Eriel Lawson to third base, and Lawson then scored on a wild pitch. Brandi Foreman batted in Breayna Horton on a single to right, and Sanders scored on the throw to cut the lead to 5-4. Unfortunately, Martin Methodist added two runs In the bottom of the sixth and held the Lady Bulldogs scoreless in the seventh inning to take the 7-4 victory.  Â
In the final game, The Lady RedHawks took an early 4-0 lead. With A&M still scoreless at the top of the fifth, Smith got things going for the Lady Bulldogs with a clutch two-out one-run home run in the top of the fifth inning. Lang then singled to the infield to score Lavarsha Thigpen, but it wasn't enough as Martin Methodist managed to rally two more runs of its own in the sixth to take the second game by a score of 6-2. Â
The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Jackson, Miss. this weekend for a three-game series against Jackson State University. The two teams will play a single-game on Friday at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday at 3 p.m.
