Jackson, Miss --- Imani Largin's grand slam was the highlight of the game as the Lady Bulldogs softball team defeated Jackson State 9-5 Monday to take the weekend series. A&M improved 7-8 in the SWAC East action and Jackson State fell 4-10.

In the series finale, the Lady Tigers jumped on the board first with two runs in the bottom of the first. That lead, however, didn't last for long. The Lady Bulldogs countered when Largin blasted a four-run grand slam in the top of the second inning to take a 4-2 lead.

In the top of the third, Eriel Lawson singled to second base to score Viridiana Ramos and Lawson took advantage of the Lady Tigers wild pitch and added another run in the third.

Although both teams were held scoreless in the fourth and fifth inning, Ramos and Tiana Sanders ignited the Lady Bulldogs' offense again in the sixth with back-to-back singles to extend the lead 9-2.

A&M relied on seven steady innings from pitcher Caitlyn Hayden, who surrendered seven hits but only five runs in the 9-5 victory.

Largin led the Lady Bulldogs offense with four RBIs, one home run, and she was 1-2 at the plate.

A&M travels to Birmingham, AL to face Samford University in doubleheader action on Tuesday, April 26 at 5 p.m.
