Jackson State rallies to upend Bulldogs

JACKSON, Miss. -- Jackson State rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Friday to beat the Bulldogs 7-6.

The teams return to action Saturday at with a doubleheader slated to start at 1 p.m. The schedule was changed due to expected inclement weather in Jackson.

The Bulldogs struck first Friday when Nolan Ramsey doubled home Tanner Ivey in the first inning.

With A&M trailing 4-1 in the fifth inning, Ty Russell scored on a bases-loaded walk to Ivey, cutting JSU's lead to 4-2.

In the sixth inning, Russell tied the score on his two-run homer over the rightfield fence with Dylan Payne on base.

The Bulldogs took a 5-4 lead in the eighth inning when Payne scored on a wild pitch. Then, Eric Yarbrough reached base on an error, allowing Cornelius Woods to score to give A&M a 6-4 lead.

After JSU regained the lead in the eighth, the Bulldogs attempted a rally in their half of the ninth, but left the bases loaded.
