HUNTSVILLE -- Except for the first 15 seconds of the game Wednesday, the Lady Bulldogs dominated Evansville in a 70-56 win.

It was A&M's first nonconference win over a Division I opponent since December 2014.

Freshman center Ashlyn Dotson led A&M's offense with 25 points, hitting 11 of 16 from the field including 2 of 3 from three-point range.

The Purple Aces scored the game's first basket just 15 seconds in but Natalie Collins, on a beautiful pass from Nigeria Jones, sank a three-pointer about 20 seconds later to give the Lady Bulldogs a lead they never relinquished.

Jones finished the night with six assists and six points. Jameica Cobb scored 14 points and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

The Lady Bulldogs led 24-17 at the end of the first quarter and took a 36-28 lead into the half.

About halfway through the third quarter, A&M led 49-37 when Evansville mounted a threat.

The Purple Aces went on a 8-0 run when A&M Head Coach Margaret Richards called a timeout with 3:27 left in the quarter.

The pause seemed to help as A&M went on to lead 55-48 at the end of the third.

A&M built up a 15-point lead, its largest of the game, with about 2 minutes remaining and cruised in with the win.

The Lady Bulldogs shot 47.5 percent from the field in the game and outrebounded Evansville of the Missouri Valley Conference 35-22.

A&M is on the road Saturday with a 5:30 p.m. contest at Tennessee State. The Lady Bulldogs return home next Tuesday to host Austin Peay at 11 a.m. for Elementary School Day.
