CHICAGO, IL. – DePaul made 31-of-58 shot attempts from the field to earn an 83-59 result over the Alabama A&M men's basketball program Monday in front of a crowd of 4,508 at DePaul University.
The Bulldogs (0-9) were led by Sophomore De'Ederick Petty's season-high 21 points to go along with his four rebounds and three assists. Junior Arthur Johnson also reached double-figures with 13 points. Andre Kennedy and Evan Wiley each contributed a team-high six rebounds, respectively.
DePaul (6-4) saw three players in double-figures. Max Strus led the Blue Demons with 14 points followed by Tre'Darius McCallum (13) and Brandon Cyrus (12).
Alabama A&M held an early lead, after a three-pointer by Petty to go up 3-2.
The Bulldogs trailed 10-5 when the Blue Demons used an 15-2 spurt to jump ahead 25-17 with 11:47 left in the half. DePaul extended its edge to 43-14 with five minutes remaining, and catapulted ahead 48-22 going into the break.
Alabama A&M couldn't get its deficit below 19 in the second half. DePaul shot 13-for-28 (48.0 percent) in the frame. The Bulldogs saw three-pointers go in from Johnson, Petty and Marcus Merriweather.
The Bulldogs will have a quick turnaround as they prepare to host Southern Miss on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tip at the T.M. Elmore Gym.
