Women's Basketball defeated by UAB 85-58

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--- The Alabama A&M women's basketball team fell to UAB 85-58 on Sunday at the Bartow Arena.

With the loss, Alabama A&M falls to 4-5 and UAB improves to 8-2.

Leading the way for the Lady Bulldogs was DeShawna Harper with 17 points. Jameica Cobb followed with 10 points, while Ashlyn Dotson and Nigeria Jones added eight points. Dotson had a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Blazers started the game on a 12-2 run before Harper drained a three-pointer to cut UAB's lead to seven. However, the Blazers would extend their lead by 16, 25-9, with 2:28 on the clock and never looked back. UAB went into the locker with a 31-12 lead.

UAB jumped out to a 6-0 run to start the second half before Dotson hit a jumper to end the streak followed by a Cobb layup a few minutes later to bring their deficit to 48-32. 
The hosts would pull away later in the third heading into the final quarter with the 64-40 lead.

UAB had three players in double-figures led by Deanna Kuzmanic who finished with 23 points. Miyah Barnes added 16 while Angela Vendrell scored 11 points.

Up next for the Lady Bulldogs is a Thursday afternoon contest on December 21 versus Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
