Lady Bulldogs Rally for 76-74 Win at Southeastern Louisiana

Hammond, LA ---  Lauren McKee, Nigeria Jones and Ashlyn Dotson combined for 45 points as the Alabama A&M University women's basketball team rallied for a 76-74 win Thursday afternoon at Southeastern Louisiana. The win gives the Lady Bulldogs a 5-5 overall record while the Lady Lions fall to 1-10 overall.

Alabama A&M led 56-50 entering the fourth quarter and went up by 15 points with 6:02 on the clock after a fast break jumper from Jones. Trailing 70-55, Southeastern Louisiana responded with a 17-2 run to cut the Lady Bulldogs lead and tie the game at 72 with 1:00 remaining in the fourth.

Dotson responded with a jumper followed by a free throw shot from Jameica Cobb to allow the Lady Bulldogs to take a three-point lead. With 1:44 on the clock, the Lady Lions would sink two free throws to bring the game within one.

With Alabama A&M leading 75-74, Southeastern Louisiana committed a foul and sent Jones to the free throw line with three seconds remaining on the clock. Jones hit the free throw and the Lady Bulldogs went on to secure the 76-74 victory.

McKee led the way for the Lady Bulldogs with 17 points which included five treys. McKee also led the team with six assists. Jones added 15 points while Dotson totaled 13 points on the day and led the team with eight rebounds.
 
Southeastern Louisiana's Taylin Underwood led all scorers with 28 points. The only other double-digit scorer for the Lady Lions was Jyar Francis who added 16 points.
 
The Lady Bulldogs will wrap up the non-conference slate on Dec. 29 when they visit Lipscomb University for a 6:30 p.m. tip.
