WASHINGTON, D.C-- The Alabama A&M men's basketball team played its final non-conference game of the season Saturday in Washington, D.C. against Georgetown. The Bulldogs fell behind early and were never able to recover, losing 89-49. The loss drops Alabama A&M to 0-13 overall.
The Bulldogs kept things close knit through the first ten minutes of the contest. They tied the game at seven on a jumper from Julian Walters with 16:04 left, but the Bulldogs never saw another tie thereafter. After a Jalen Reeder tip-in to cut Georgetown's lead to six, the Hoyas exploded for a 23-6 scoring run over the next ten minutes and commanded a 44-21 lead at halftime. Â
In the second half, the Hoyas maintained control of the game and never relinquished their momentum shooting over 62 percent from the field en route to the 40-point rout.
Mohamed Sherif was the only player who had double figure scoring for the Bulldogs. He led the team with 12 points. Evan Wiley contributed eight points and had a team-high six rebounds.
The Bulldogs will open up conference play at Grambling State on New Year's Day for a 2 p.m. tip-off. Â
