Baton Rouge, La.—The Alabama A&M University women's basketball team fell on the road to Southern University Saturday afternoon, 69-57.
The Lady Bulldogs got off to a great start in the first quarter battling with Southern for the lead. With the score tied at four, freshman
Jameica Cobb drove in for the layup to take a 6-4 lead with 6:58 on the clock. A&M wouldn't keep the lead long after an 8-0 run from the Jags gave them a 12-6 lead over the Lady Bulldogs.

Lauren McKee netted two free throws with 52 seconds remaining in the first quarter before Southern closed the quarter with a layup to take a 14-8 lead.
The Lady Bulldogs headed into the second quarter with a 6-2 run to cut the Jags lead to three with 6:11 on the clock. After a jags three-pointer, freshman
Alisha Davis secured a layup, before the Jags extended their lead to take a 31-24 at the half.
AAMU returned to the court in the third quarter with a jumper from senior
Ebony Johnson to cut the Jags lead to seven. As the Lady Bulldogs continued to battle, Southern responded quickly and proved to be too tough down the stretch.
Cobb led AAMU with 13 points, grabbed eight rebounds and led the Lady Bulldogs with five assists in 36 minutes of action.
Freshman
Juliette Akinwole added 10 points and recorded six rebounds.
Johnson recorded nine points and nine rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs, while Senior
Josta Totten netted nine points and six boards. Davis contributed eight points and six rebounds for A&M.
The Lady Bulldogs returns to action on Monday, Feb. 20 when they travel to Lorman, MS to face Alcorn State at 5:30 p.m.
