Lorman, Miss.---  Nine of the Alabama A&M University women's basketball players reached the scoring column Monday night. However, the Lady Bulldogs were unable to outscore Alcorn State in Lorman, Miss., falling 71-42 in conference play.

Alcorn State (9-17, 9-6 SWAC) opened the first quarter on a 7-0 run before Josta Totten put the Lady Bulldogs (2-21, 0-14 SWAC) on the board with a three-pointer with 6:23 on the clock. The Lady Bulldogs would continue to chip away at Alcorn's lead as a steal from Hilary Williams to Asiah Oden for a fast break jumper would cut the Lady Braves lead to four.

Jameica Cobb followed with a jumper as the Lady Bulldogs trailed, 9-7. Two points would be as close as A&M would get as the Lady Braves went on a 10-0 run to close the first quarter with a 19-7 lead.

The Lady Braves extended their lead in the second quarter and led by as many as 11 with 1:47 remaining on the clock. Lauren McKee and Courtney Eggleston would respond as they both put up three-pointers to bring the Lady Bulldogs within five before Alcorn took a 29-21 lead into halftime.

The Lady Bulldogs were unable to cut into Alcorn's first half lead, losing the Southwestern Athletic Conference road game, 71-42.

Out of the nine players that reached the scoring column, A&M had four players score five or more points and Cobb led all Lady Bulldogs, scoring 12 points in 23 minutes played.

Williams added six points for the Lady Bulldogs followed by McKee and Totten who each had five, respectively. Juliette Akinwole led A&M in rebounding, grabbing 10.

The Lady Bulldogs will be back on the court again this weekend as they host Prairie View A&M Saturday in T.M. Elmore Gym. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
