HUNTSVILLE -- A seven-run second inning by Fort Wayne proved the difference Sunday in a 10-6 win over Alabama A&M.
The game was the first of a rescheduled doubleheader. Fort Wayne won the second game 15-1.
After a 1-2-3 first inning, the Mastodons jumped on A&M starter Owen Stubberfield for seven runs in the second inning.
The Mastodons built a 9-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth when the Bulldogs struck for four runs.
Zeth Malcom started the A&M rally when he walked to open the Bulldogs' sixth and moved to third on Carson McGregory's double down the right-field line.
Betancourt followed with a run-scoring single and Cornelious Woods also singled to left to score McGregory and move Betancourt to second.
Joannes Diaz's sacrifice bunt moved Woods to second and Betancourt to third. Betancourt then scored on a ground out and Woods later scored on a passed ball and the inning ended with the Bulldogs cutting Fort Wayne's lead to 9-5.

Carson McGregory had a pair of singles but the Bulldogs fell hard to Fort Wayne in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader.
The Mastodons broke open the game with a seven-run sixth inning.
The Bulldogs will be on the road this week with games Tuesday and Wednesday at South Alabama and a three-game series at Savannah State starting next Friday.
