LORMAN, Miss. -- De'Ederick Petty scored 23 points Monday night to lead a trio of Bulldogs in double-figure scoring but Alabama A&M lost at Alcorn State 74-59.

Adrian Edwards scored 12 points and Quinterian McConico added 10 for A&M, who fell to 1-13 in the SWAC, 1-24 overall. Alcorn improves to 12-3 in the SWAC, 15-13 overall.

Petty's scoring matched a career high for the freshman. He was 7 of 15 from the field, including 2 of 6 from three-point range, and 7 of 8 at the free-throw line.

The Bulldogs and Braves were in a see-saw game in the first half with each team taking and retaking a lead.

A&M took a 27-26 lead with 5:44 to play on Petty's layup.

Alcorn came back with a basket for a 28-27 lead and closed out the half on a 15-6 run for a 43-33 lead at the break.

The Braves put the game on ice with a 14-3 run in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

After shooting 56 percent from the field in the first half, A&M hit just 7 of 22 shots in the second half.

The Bulldogs close out the home schedule this weekend. They host Prairie View A&M on Saturday for Senior Night and Texas Southern comes to Elmore Gym next Monday in the home finale.
