SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Caleb Gay pitched his first complete game and Kyle Redmond had his first multi-hit game as a Bulldog but Alabama A&M lost Friday at Texas State, 7-2.
The two teams will play Saturday at 1 p.m., weather permitting.
Gay gave up 11 hits and four walks to go with five earned runs.
Redmond was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
The Bulldogs trailed 2-0 after three innings when they got on the scoreboard.
Then, Francisco Diaz Jr. struck out but it, too, was a wild pitch and he reached first base and Malcom advanced to third.
Pierre Brewton singled to center to knock in Malcom and cut the Texas State lead to 2-1,
The Bobcats, however, answered with two more in the bottom of the fourth and a 4-1 lead.
Redmond and Dalton Mitchell opened the fifth with back-to-back singles and Redmond reached third on Mitchell's hit.
Mitchell later took off for second and was caught in a pickle which allowed Redmond to score from third and cut Texas State's lead to 4-2.
The Bobcats scored twice in the seventh inning and a run in the eighth to secure the win.
