Lady Bulldogs kick off season Sunday at 2 p.m.

HUNTSVILLE -- The Alabama A&M women's soccer team begins a new era Sunday under first-year head coach Emanuel Stephens.

The Lady Bulldogs will face Winthrop University at 2 p.m. at Lady Bulldogs Field.

The new-look team lost its top three scorers from last season but return seasoned midfield and defensive units.

The young squad features 14 freshmen and five sophomores with four juniors and two seniors.

Goalkeeper Alexandra Desgagne returns for her senior season, after missing several games at the end of last season with a knee injury. Desgagne made 13 appearances, including 11 starts for the Bulldogs last season. She posted a 3.09 goals against average, to go along with a .596 save percentage in 2016.

On the back line, juniors Caroline Dyrdek and Julie Duran and sophomore Camille Nurse provide the experience. Iris Torres is back to anchor the midfield.
