A&M women's soccer in South Carolina

ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- The Alabama A&M women's soccer team will be in a couple of dogfights in South Carolina this weekend - figuratively and literally.

The ever-improving Lady Bulldogs kick off a two-game trip to the Palmetto State with a match Friday at South Carolina State.

This is not only a match between Bulldogs but is also a matchup of similar teams.

Head coach Emanuel Stephens' squad and S.C. State are looking for their first wins of the season.

Each squad has dropped games to a pair of common opponents -  A&M lost to The Citadel 1-0 and S.C. State fell 2-1 and both were shut out by Winthrop (A&M lost 2-0; S.C. State was blanked 1-0).

Kickoff Friday is 6 p.m. Central Time.

A&M wraps up the dog vs. dog weekend Sunday with a match at the Wofford Terriers.

Wofford has won two straight after a 0-4 start going into its match Friday with Charleston Southern.

Sunday's game kicks off at 1 p.m. Central Time and can be seen on the SoCon Digital Network and also viewed on Live Stats.

The Lady Bulldogs continue their road trip next weekend when they open SWAC play Friday at Mississippi Valley State and visit Alcorn State next Sunday.

They return home Sept. 29 to host Prairie View A&M.
