AAMU Volleyball Goes 5-0 at SWAC Round Up

| Box Score 2 HOUSTON, TEX.--- The Alabama A&M women's volleyball team went 5-0 after completing a weekend sweep at the Southwestern Athletic Conference West Volleyball Round Up Sunday with a victory (25-16, 24-26, 25-17, 27-25) over the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Houston, TX.

Meredith Sieck led the way for the Lady Bulldogs against the Golden Lions with 49 assists. Helena Figueiredo contributed 25 digs and Cierra Davis dished out 19 digs and three aces. Riley Balsmeyer added 15 digs.

Terra Brooks posted 14 kills, four blocks and two aces. Syretha Pride contributed 13 kills and Courtney Oliver added 10.

After winning two matches Friday night against Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern, the Lady Bulldogs opened Saturday's play with a 25-20, 25-13, 25-12 victory over Grambling.

Jaelin Gant paced the offense with 11 kills, Mikel Coleman added seven kills and Sieck dished out 30 assists. Pride posted eight kills and figured in on nine combined blocks as Alabama A&M outhit Grambling .337-.139 in the match.

Defensively, Figueiredo led the way with 12 digs while Brooks and Balsmeyer each added 11 digs as the Lady Bulldogs swept Grambling.

In its final match on Saturday, AAMU defeated Southern with a 23-25, 26-24, 25-14, 25-23 victory.

Pride led the offensive attack with 15 kills and she added eight blocks to help power the Lady Bulldogs to a four-set win over the Jaguars.

Sieck tallied 28 assists and 15 digs. Brooks added 13 digs and Figueiredo contributed 21 digs.

UP NEXT
The Lady Bulldogs (5-12, 5-0 SWAC) return to action Wednesday, Sept. 27, when they host Austin Peay for the first home match of the season. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the AAMU Student Wellness Center.
