Bulldogs Down MVSU, 65-55

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--- Senior transfer Julian Walters had 14 points and six rebounds as Alabama A&M men's basketball team pulled away from Mississippi Valley in a 65-55 victory Monday night.

The Bulldogs improve to 2-15 overall and 2-2 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. The Delta Devils drop to 0-16 overall and 0-3 in league play, making them the last winless team in Division I this season.

AAMU shot 45.7 percent (21-of-46) from the field and 31.8 percent (7-of-22) from the three-point line while making 16 of 18 (88.9 percent) shots from the free throw line. Despite turning the ball over 16 times, the Bulldogs were still able to outrebound MVSU, 40-28.

Junior Arthur Johnson contributed 13 points for the Bulldogs followed by classmate Andre Kennedy who added eight points and five rebounds. Sophomore Evan Wiley led the team with eight rebounds to go along with his seven points and three assists.

Jeffery Lewis and Lorenzo Hunt led Mississippi Valley with 11 points each. The Delta Devils shot 34.3 percent overall while only shooting just 3-of-16 from the 3-point range.

The Bulldogs will be back in action Saturday as they travel to Alabama State to continue SWAC play.
